Myoporum parvifolium Yareena (14cm)
Description
Myoporium parvifolium 'Yareena' is a quick-growing ground-cover suited to a wide range of conditions. It is quite delicate to look at with a fresh stiff green foliage of semi-succulent leaves which are narrow, blunt and thick. The flower clusters are fragrantly honey-scented and made up of white tubular flowers late spring to early summer. These are followed by globular berries. This attractive low maintenance plant is ideal for filling those gaps, under-planting, cascading down embankments or trailing over retaining walls and raised garden beds, or any situation requiring a rather lush-looking groundcover. Myoporums prefer full-sun to part-shade, and will grow in almost any soil as long as it is wll drained. Also tolerant of coastal regions and waterwise when established, surviving high temperatures andfrost tolerant. Being a low-maintenance plant there is little pruning required , just as it is needed. A slow-release low phosphorus fertiliser in spring.
